Description
Given the high prevalence of sleep-related breathing disorders, understanding the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea has become important to the effective treatment for these disorders. Often OSA and CSA coexist and treatments of OSA may further the development of CSA. Understanding of the overlaps in the physiology of CSA/OSA occurrence, their interplay and temporal evolution can help the practitioner treat patients afflicted with these problems better.
