Session Date
October 20, 2020 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Description
The field of bronchoscopy has rapidly grown over the last 10 years with the development of new approaches that may improve our ability to diagnose and treat certain lung disease. Although these technologies are promising, the emerging data on these modalities is mixed and their role in clinical practice remains to be fully delineated. Our session will utilize a pro-con format to review key technologies (cryobiopsy for diffuse lung disease, bronchoscopy for the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions, bronchoscopic ablative therapies for lung cancer) and will focus on how the current evidence either supports or refutes these technologies.
Learning Objective 1
Learn the limitations of existing technologies for assessment of focal peripheral pulmonary lesions, review the potential advantages of robotic bronchoscopy, and review the current (limited) evidence for its role in diagnosis.
Learning Objective 2
Understand the evidence for and against the use of transbronchial cryobiopsies in the diagnostic algorithm of diffuse parenchymal lung disease.
